Our practitioners, John Willet and Kerry Smith, are dedicated, hard-working and highly skilled, and offer a kind and caring approach that encompasses everything from veruca removal to complex gait and biomechanical analysis.   • Toenail problems such as fungal nail infection – Thick, miss-shapen nails can be very difficult to manage and may lead to other problems.
  • Corns and callus – there are several different types of corns, each of which having different reasons for occurring and most can cause significant pain. Several different types of treatment are available to relieve pain and prevent reoccurrence. Callus can become very painful and, for some, unsightly. We can remove them within the clinic.
  • Verruca treatment – We offer help and advice on how to manage verrucaes. We also offer a course of treatment within the clinic using 60% salicylic acid.
  • Biomechanics – The way your feet work can contribute to foot problems. An assessment at Stance takes a close look at how your feet work to ascertain if this is a contributing factor to your problems.
  • Ingrown toenails – Treatment to relieve the pain and advice on how to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Foot and heel pain – We provide help and advice on how to deal with problems such as plantar fasciitis.
  • Footwear advice – Footwear can be a massive contributing factor to a lot of foot problems/pains such as corns and callus formation.
  • Orthotics – In-shoe devices which help to realign the foot and provide deflection/cushioning to problem areas.
  • Nail cutting service – Help with maintaining your foot care needs.

Chiropodists and podiatrists deal with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the lower limb and foot.

What is the difference between a Chiropodist and Podiatrist?

There is no difference between a chiropodist or a podiatrist. Podiatrist is simply the term used for chiropodists in other English speaking countries outside the UK.

How long is a treatment?

Initially, we book a half hour appointment for you and if you require more time then we can arrange this too.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a full list of any medication you are currently taking. You will also need details of your GP and the surgery you attend. If you are wearing nail varnish, please remove it prior to your appointment.

Can you visit me at home?

We are able to visit patients at home if they are housebound. Please contact us for details.
